Re[2]: Bruce Wilcox's Standard Computer Go Modem Protocol

My thanks to Arlin Anderson for sending me a text version of protocol.Z as an
email attachment. I hope that's all I'm going to need.

I would also like to thank Christoph <birk@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> for his advice:

Hmmm, there seems to be a server-side configuration issue with this file. Even
though I have my browser configured to ask me what to do about .Z files,
protocol.Z comes up visually (as gibberish) when I click on it, instead of
asking me what to do. (I believe that editing the file "mime.types" in the conf
dir on the www server, changing the "application/x-compress" line will fix
this.) I can still override the default behavior by going to the URL
http://imageek.york.cuny.edu/pub/nngs/Go/prog/ and right-clicking on the link
to protocol.Z and then doing a "Save Link As..." But then, when I do an
``uncompress protocol.Z'' on that I get: "uncompress: corrupt input" so I
wonder if that file is really o.k. -- Could some kind soul try getting it
and uncompressing it, to see if it is really possible to get the file from
imageek?

Of course, neither of these generous acts represents a solution to the larger
problem of what should be done when irresponsible/incompetent folks are put in
positions of authority, in charge of data. I do have some very strong opinions
about that... Interested parties are cordially invited to inquire about those
opinions via email. :-)

Again, thanks to all who immediately came to my aid. You guys are great!

Rich
