Results of all competitions
Attached are the results of all computer go competitions with
long term ranking. Go4++ made second place :)
Another interesting thing to note is the program Igo Jiman 1.0. This
was its first competition and it finished 11th. Very respectable in
this group. It will be one to watch next year.
Wulu may have had some bad luck in this tournament. In the first 15
test games, Many Faces only won two. Many Faces wins about 30% against
last year's Handtalk, so perhaps Wulu is stronger than the result
indicates (or maybe it just does particularly well against Many Faces).
Wulu plays more agressively than handtalk, and Many Faces often leaves
thin groups on the board, so Wulu usually kills something in each game.

Summary of results of all World Computer Go competitions:
The Ing competition takes place every November, with a prize of
NT$200,000 (about US$8,000) for first place. The top program gets to
play a match against people at a handicap, for prizes from NT$150,000
(about US$6,000) to NT$40,000,000 (about US$1.6 Million).
The Computer Olympiads were world competitions in a variety of computer
games, including Go.
The FOST competition takes place every August in Japan, with a prize
of 1,000,000 Yen (about US$7,000) for first place.
I include all programs that have participated more than once, or that
finished in the top 5 places. Ordering is by long term relative strength,
with recent results weighted higher.

Rating (R) is a weighted average of results, with each year weighted 2/3 of
the year after it. For years where a program did not participate, results
are interpolated. A program that has not participated recently is penalized
one rank per major tournament ot two ranks per year from its most recent
result. Years before a program started to participate are set to the
average of its results while it was playing.
