I wrote goo, it's pathetic.  :-S  I won't bother with reasons now.

perception is not terribly good either.  It has an excellent user
interface tho - cgoban.

I think xamigo might make a good candidate for GNU go.

IMO, someone should try a handful of games between the current GNU go,
xamigo, and JaGo.

For introducing new people to go, I'd say JaGo wins hands down tho. 
Being able to play go on the web is a big benefit to getting new people
interested.  How much that should effect the "who should be GNU go"
decision, I don't know.
