Re: Tolerant of plagiary?

It's really unethical and even criminal for someone to do this. But I have a
feeling things like this will happen again in the future. Following is a
possible scenario. So far all competitions use author's own computer. One day
someone may place a radio receiver inside the computer and dictate the game
from remote. Also espionage and burglary could also happen if the economic
stake is high enough. I suggest all authors encryt the source code if they
want to bring them to the competition.

One possible way to detect people who simply copy other people's code is to
use commercial programs to replay each of the games in the final round. To
avoid being detected, the person has to modified the program. Here one need to
find the thin blue line between leraning from other programs and copy other
programs. Every author has to weigh between the risk of it's techniques been
learned and copied by other authors and the economical gain of commercializing
a program.
