Re: Plagiary problem
I'd like to point out several things and express some of my views here.
1. Plagiary is a problem only for commercialized programs. In certain sense
it's a commercial concern. It should be dealt outside the competition. Unless
a competition is one of strong commercial background, plagiary should not
even be a problem of concern. Any program, no matter how it is written,
should be allowed to participate. (By the way I don't have even the slightest
intention to copy from any of the available programs. ) We write a good
program to win, not by eliminating competitions. If all top prizes are won by
derivatives of Handtalk, go head and let it happen. It only means that our
own program is not good enough, nothing more. If one can beat one of them,
one will beat them all.
2.Exchange or archive participating programs is a bad idea, whether the exe
code or the source code. It's against the first amendment of the
constitution. What are we in? A police state? People exchange programs only
at their own will. One should not be forced to do anything against one's
will.
In summary, in a competition, if you can win, your program is good. If not it
only mean your program is not good enough. Anything else is of no concern to
the competition.
