It's often said that standards are wonderful, and the best thing about
them is that there are so many to choose from.
The GMP may not be perfect, but it gets the job done. Do we really
need to make everyone rewrite/retest/redebug their communications code?
If we really, truly _need_ additional _functionality_ then we must
support the existing GMP, as is, into the future i.e. total backwards
compatibility.
Instead how about a public:
1) gigantic joseki / fuseki database
2) common yose (endgame) database
3) and Dave Dyer has done a *brilliant* thing with his eyespace database
http://www.andromeda.com/people/ddyer/go/shape/ShapeApplet.html
(but I've never got the Java to work - I think my netscape is dodgy)
His webpage says it's available for noncomercial use - Dave where is
the code? I couldn't see a link on your pages?
these three would be really useful for everybody.
