I agree that OO is not a _necessary_ condition for writing God's go program.

As Mr Xu implies, though, OO can provide a framework that falicitates clear
thinking about the problem.  _That_, in turn, might lead to results as yet
unforeseen.  The process of evolving a well-organized heirarchy of objects,
whose properties and methods are based on what may be observed about go --
no doubt on a wide variety of levels of abstraction; that's the hard part --
would seem to me to be conducive to both the _discovery_ of deep go
structure, and to the development of its program implementation.

Like Mama said of chicken soup, "It couldn't hurt!"

Besides, Java is way cool!
