computer-go: RE: beat 9d before 2010
There has been a lot of talk recently about Moore's Law and beating
high ranking professional players etc. well what about if we took the
challenge seriously, if we expect computing power to double every two years
then how about assembling a distributed network of 16 or more computers.
Surely there are enough university people on this list with access to much
larger networks then this.
Alternatively why don't we write a proposal to www.distributed.net
to play a game against a pro using their network, with 100,000 computers it
will surely prove whether faster computers will solve the problem any time
soon. If you can solve the security issues and move quick enough then
perhaps the Ing prize is within reach....
