I fear you are mistaken.  There are at least two utilities designed to enter

game records (providing a board for personal play as well), as well as a
small (and questionable) program which actually plays Go.  One of the
programs designed for game entry even supports SGF generation from its
output, complete with entering multiple branches and comments for moves.

The market is not swamped by any means, but it is certainly not vacant.
