Re: computer-go: perfect play

I don't know the exact definition because there are variations on them.
I don't even know if they have been defined in an exact way.

Here is my understanding:

GoGod plays perfect Go and knows the whole game tree. He cannot be
beaten (unless given a lost position.) He will maximize the final
result in terms of territory. He doesn't care who his opponent is, he
always plays the same way, perfectly. If several moves give an
equally good result, he chooses randomly among them.

One important thing: GoGod always assumes the opponent will play
perfectly too. He will not play a second best move in order to trick
you.

GoDevil is actually very much like GoGod. He also plays perfect Go
and will never play a second best move. However GoDevil knows who his
opponent is and what his weaknesses are. When GoDevil has a choice of
equally good moves, he will choose the one he thinks will confuse his
opponent the most.

Since GoDevil cannot confuse GoGod, he doesn't bother trying. GoDevil
vs GoGod is equivalent to GoGod vs GoGod.

This is my understanding but there are several fine points and I may
not have it perfectly right. For instance, if GoDevil wants to
maximize his score, and is also an expert on probability theory he
might beat humans even more convincingly by throwing in non-optimal
moves. But this involves some risk on his part and I am assuming that
GoDevil, as defined by others, doesn't do this.

If anyone has clarifications, I am interested too.

Can anyone tell me what exactly is the definition of GoGod and GoDevil?
