computer-go: Combinatorial Game Theory mailing list

Hi,
I've created a mailing list for discussing Combinatorial Game Theory.

Subscription is automatic. Just send a message to
<rcaetano-cgt-subscribe@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

The address of the mailing list is:
<cgt-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

This is actually an alias for <rcaetano-cgt@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>.
I hope it won't cause problems to anyone, besides having to use
a different prefix for (un)subscribing, namely, rcaetano-cgt.
This is undesirable, but I think the benefit of using a shorter and
more mnemonic address is worth it.
Please let me know if you disagree (but do it quickly, since soon
the list will have thousands of subscribers :-), and any changes will
be more traumatic).

I'll soon announce it in rec.games{go,chess,abstract} and sci.math.

If you are wondering what the hell is CGT, the standard references are:
- Conway. "On Numbers and Games"
- Berlekamp, Conway, Guy. "Winning Ways for your Mathematical Plays"

I guess "Winning Ways" is a better introduction than ONAG.
Unfortunately I don't know of any webpage explaining the basics
of CGT. But David Eppstein has a page with dozens of links about it:
http://www.ics.uci.edu/~eppstein/cgt/

CGT has some interesting applications to go endgames, but it's
very interesting itself.

BTW, I'm just a begginer in CGT (about 29-kyu :-).

bye
    Rafael Caetano <rcaetano@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>
