computer-go: How bad are the public domain go programs?
How badly does gnugo 2.6 and baduki-0.2.9 play? Are they considered
terrible?
I have always assumed my program would lose badly to any go programs
out there, but using cgoban I decided it was time to test this. I was
rather surprised to find that I won 2 games against gnugo 2.6 and then
2 games against baduki-0.2.9 (I really like baduki's clean and simple
interface.) In both games my program used a lot less time.
I realize 4 games is not signficant statistically and my program could
still be much worse than either or both of these programs, but this at
least gives me slight encouragement.
So do I have any reason to be happy or are these program just really
lousy?
