computer-go: What is the current state of Computer Go research?

Hi,

I'm new to this list and am currently learning about the issue of
Computer Go as part of a final year project. However most of what I have
found on the web seems to have been written in 1997,98 or 99. Can anyone
point me in the direction of more recent (2000 or 2001) papers or
articles about Computer Go? Or is research/development of Computer Go
solutions moving so slowly that papers from nearly 5 years ago are
still pretty much up-to-date?
