No, this is not a standard notion of second order liberty and
was implemented this way because it was what we found useful
for the purpose of computing the escape potential. An escape
route probably does not pass directly adjacent to the opponent's
live stone. If you find some other notion useful you should of
course not worry about whether it is the same as in GNU Go.

The html documentation is currently a bit long to make available
on the web, but it is distributed with the program.
