RE: computer-go: new strategy game with $10,000 prize

- The total number of board positions is definitely less, unless you play
9x9...
- The rules are still more complex than the rules of Go
- Due to the fact that some pieces are worth more than others
finding an evaluation function for a board position should
be easier than in Go.
- The board is smaller, which makes the game (I feel) more tactical.
Regarding the challenge: Indeed, the factor that there are no expert-humans
yet makes it both harder to find an evaluation function, and easier to win
by brute force.

PS. If you've got a good brute-force routine on your shelve, I'd say give it
a try!

Subject: computer-go: new strategy game with $10,000 prize
http://arimaa.com/arimaa/
He thinks his game is 100x more complex than go, and offers $10,000 for a
program
that can beat a human by 2020, with $1000 for the best program at the end
of 2003.
I think this prize can be won this year, but I don't have time to work on it
:(
Any takers?
