I wrote a little converter, and sent the game to my score counter after 
it was over (from your code).

Try it out!  It prints the score to System.out.println and displays the 
territory it counts.

I would claim that it is a bit better than removing live groups that 
aren't totally, unconditionally alive.  Maybe...
