Yes Chrilly, you are correct. You work for the company chessbase.
The version 5 of Fritz, when using the auto232 protocol, didn't ship the
command 'save game'.
This caused some opponents to not 'learn'. It repeated the same game when
it won one and won games like that.
I'll skip another 100 tricks.
The last version of Fritz from chessbase, Fritz8, is only having 1 public
protocol to load other engines. This is the so called UCI protocol
(universal chess interface). You can use this also to remotely let programs
run at different machines, like some used it like that at the world champs
2003, a week ago.
Some commercial programmers started wondering a while ago why they lost so
many games against fritz8 when users at home tested it. It appeared that
after the first game, Fritz8 is giving the UCI command to turn the
hashtables back to 1 MB for the opponent programs it plays.
So usually nowadays is hashtables of like 400MB, which is a big advantage
over 1 MB.
The company you work for then gives, as publicly proven, the command to
turn back the hashtable to 1 MB.
Another new trick.
If you get involved in computer-go, i advice opponents to use some paranoia
in this respect.
Chessbase version fritz5 was using tricks. Chessbase version 8, just
released not too long ago, is using another new trick.
Now you go make a go engine in FPGA under i assume chessbase flag.
Why would the computer-go world get saved from such tricks then?
Best regards,
Vincent
