Careful, it should be: e = d(d-1)+1

This becomes the unity operator for a single stone on a sufficiently large board.

I believe it, but it's no obviously true. Can someone give me a couple of intermediate steps?

I experimentally observed this relationship between e and d. Run the algorithm on the single stone in the middle of a board.
