[computer-go] Introduction
Hi there,
I am a student of Computer Science in the Netherlands and I'm starting work on a
project wherein I want to combine two of my interests: Go and Neural Networks.
In the first part of my project I'm going to research, experiment and train a
suitable form of neural network for the game of Go. In the second part I'll
implement a simple Go program using this neural network.
Off course I realise this is a lot of work for somebody who is still
unexperienced in using neural networks and I have to admit I'm not too good of
a Go player as well. But I'll try not to reinvent the wheel and use other
people's good work and ideas as much as possible. Also from my studying of
neural networks and the game of Go so far, I feel that their might still be a
possible break through in this area lurking just around the corner. (you never
know)
At this moment i'm particularily interested by Tsuyoshi Hashimoto's ideas on the
'Design of Evaluation Functions using Neural Networks in the Game of Go'.
But I'm also studying other publications from the NeuroGo team etc. etc.
If anyone still has some tips/pointers for me I'd greatly appreciate them, so
please email me/the list if you do.
Thanx in advance,
Peter Paul Elfferich
