be ignored by the engine. No response must be generated. Empty lines
and lines with only whitespace sent by the engine and occuring outside
a response must be ignored by the controller. Notice that pure comment
lines will appear as empty lines after the comment has been discarded.

Therefore the engine is behaving in an acceptable manner, as I read
the spec, since extraneous whitespace and newlines are allowed.  I
imagine you have it right, but I think the fault lies with kgsGTP, not
orego.
