Re: [computer-go] Cellular automata



The importance of which colour plays next is a good point and is
something we can take into account in future models.  Rather than the
board position consisting of 'black' and 'white' stones we can make it
composed of 'player to move' and 'other player' stones.  

Note that this would break the apparent colour reversal symmetry of a
position requiring us to add more parameters.  For example, a black
stone in black territory does not exert the same influence as a white
stone in white territory - it depends who is to move.

Note also that the simple models presented in the paper are intended as
strategic predictors, there is no way they could understand tactics and
urgency.  Future developments will address this issue.
