[computer-go] AI decision making systems



Sometimes ago someone mentioned that besides the neural networks there are other AI systems to incorporate knowledge into a decesion making system. Could someone elabrate on the subject? How are these systems implemented in software? The endgame theory of Berlekamp and Wolfe is an extreme example of a AI decision making system. In this case the subject can be completely described by mathematics. However, it's not the case in a general Go game situation. Here non-mathematical or less precise mathematical rules are involved.
