To me this *is* speculation. You can *try*, as you say, but you don't know
for sure.

How about the possibility of a new 'insight', say triggered by unorthodox
play by a computer-program that can easily beat humans? What if given this
new insight in the game, all pro's can become a stone stronger than before?
Then your statistical analysis of winning probabilities goes out the window.

Maybe this is unlikely to happen. Go has been played at a high level for
centuries. The fact is we just don't know and probably won't know until we
get there.
