I think professionals may have some understanding of how much weaker than
a perfect player they are. Although I don't suppose they understand what
is involved in being a able to play even one stone stronger than top pros,
there is some certain knowledge in go. Even I can sometimes see that I
can get at least X points in the lower left against perfect play. A pro
would be much much more able to realize that he can score X points here and
Y there etc., even against perfect play.

On an empty board, I can't see that I can get any points against perfect play,
and maybe I couldn't. There is no reason to think this would be true of a
pro though.
