I believe that the research was looking at memory
as opposed to play. There was some similar work
on Go done by Reitman in the 1970's, but I am not
sure that an extensive comparative approach has been
done in determining the similarities and differences
between top Chess and Go players. I believe that it
would be unwise to try to generalize from one to the
other without any empirical evidence.
