Ergo works fine for nnng.cosmic.org 9696, just not boardspace.net
I really don't know why.
However, I can telnet directly to boardspace.net port 6969.
So I think it would be fairly simple to develop a client in a
scripting language using telnet. Ruby, Perl and Python have
modules for communicating easily via telnet.

The way to test is
telnet boardspace.net 6969
If you can connect using telnet, there is something
wrong on your client side.
Otherwise it could be a firewall issue on your side.
(port 6969 is also used by other services, IIRC)
