Re: [computer-go] Changing the subject
I work on Orego (http://www.lclark.edu/~drake/go/). I have a bad habit
of imagining that some general-purpose machine learning algorithm will
let me create a strong Go player without working hard. Trying to break
this habit, I've recently revamped my data structures (doubling speed)
and plan to build a life and death module this summer. But first I've
got this really clever idea involving genetic algorithms...

A couple of things I've been wondering about this mailing list:
- how many people are subscribed to the list? I imagine that someone
has easy access to this number.
- how many on the list are actively (say, within the last 6 months)
involved in developing a computer Go program? I imagine the only way
to figure this out is by a 'show of hands'. I'll kick it off by
raising my hand.
BTW, I hereby claim the name GONZO for my program :-)
cheers,
Peter (who believes in search, and global search at that)
