I've been working on a program on and off for a bit over 11 years. Working
title is "ago" (I didn't want to scroll down in directory lists).
I've been through a number of ideas, including most of the crazier ones that
people come up with on this list, and am mostly settled on using a very big
pattern database that uses tactical search to enrich the patterns, and then
doing very deep, almost un-branching global search to get to the end of the
game and get an accurate evaluation.
The past few years I've been focused on solving 9x9, from the endgame back.
I have little intention of releasing anything, or playing on servers, until
I'm much closer to that goal.
I also have a $1000 bet with John Tromp that a program will beat him in an
even game by 2010. It doesn't have to be (and is unlikely to be) my program,
so hurry up with the dan level programs everyone!
