[computer-go] gtp examples

Can anyone point me to an example of a gtp "conversation" between an engine 
and a controller (eg a text file).  I'm looking at the GTP2 specification, 
but a couple of things aren't clear to me, and I want to avoid the effort 
of getting their example programs running and talking to each other if 
there are already examples about.
