Benson guarantees life if White doesn't touch the position.
Forced play-out doesn't undermine this in any way.

alive groups in danger?


Exactly. In a way it's similar to the position in my 'stellingen' where one side is forced to fill his own eyes (and thereby sacrifice an unconditionally alive group) to prevent losing under your rules. As far as I know such consequences of rules have always been rejected under all major rule sets.

Of course the more practical concern is simply the needless increase in length of the games.
