Free 9x9 version of Many Faces released
The 9x9 Many Faces of go is now released. Download it from
http://www.netcom.com/~fotland/igowin.html
It plays 9x9 go only against the computer, and varies the handicap
and playing level to give a good game against any strength from
25 Kyu to 6 dan. The rating is automatically changed after each
game, and it keep statistics so you can see you are doing. It
learns, so never plays the same game twice.
It includes the go tutorial from Many Faces of Go, and an on-line
manual with information about go histry, professional go, where to
buy books, etc. So it should be a great way to introduce beginners
to the game.
Please make copies of this and give it to others. Please add links
to your web pages, or make it available for download directly from
them.
Beta testers, please destroy your beta copies and replace them with
this version. I've fixed many bugs in the beta versions, especially
related to scoring correctly, and added some new features, so I don't
want the beta version to be given away by accident.
Enjoy,
David
PS I will be on vacation until after the go congress (Aug 10), so I won't
be able to reply to mail until then. But if you find bugs, please let me
know anyway.
