Here is a way of looking at it:

People are particularly good at Go (relative to computers) because the
pieces don't move around much.  This makes Go sequences easy for humans
to visualise.  

Games in which the pieces move around even more than chess, e.g. wari,
Othello, are particularly hard for humans.
