A couple of comments:
1. The programs are professionals, not amateurs; winning is what matters. (*)
2. If really want to win a game, you are losing, and you know your opponent
is capable of 10-kyu mistakes, wouldn't you try to start a complex sequence
that might give you a ko or something?
