The -L is only relevant if you are loading a game from
a file. If you type
gnugo -l [sgf file] -L 30 --quiet -t
it will analyze the game at move t.
Maybe someone else can answer your question about Jago. On
a GNU/Linux machine with CGoban I can play GNU Go against
itself or against other programs. I suppose that Jago can
do that too.
