There is the tournament at the US Go Congress (US Computer Go Championship) 
in which Many faces, Smart Go, GNUgo (http://www.gnu.org/software/gnugo/devel
.html), and Temago participated this year  I assume this is the one you're 
talking about?  Perhaps something could be organized in conjunction with 
them?  David Fotland posted a mail to this list on 08.08.99 about the 
tournament, but I don't see contact addresses (emails, urls, etc.) anywhere. 
 Anyone have contact information?
