My understanding of AGA rules is that they are essentially the same as
Chinese rules. You should set your program to use Chinese rules.
Differences between AGA and Chinese rules are:
AGA rules allow the use of "pass stones", whereby the Chinese result
to be obtained by the Japanese counting mechanic.
AGA rules have a superko rule.
AGA rules do not allow free placement of handicap stones, except where
explicitly permitted by the tournament rules
Where Chinese rules give n points compensation for n handicap stones,
AGA rules give only n-1 points.
