computer-go: Gifu Challenge 2003 World Computer Go Championship (announcement)



Dear computer Go programmers,

Gifu Challenge 2003 World Computer Go Championship will be held in Japan
 in 2nd and 3rd August 2003.

Gifu Challenge 2003
World Computer Go Championship
(2nd and 3rd August 2003, Ogaki City, Japan)

Organized by Computer Go Forum
Joint organized by Union of Gifu IT Venture
Co-sponsored by: Gifu Prefecture, Ogaki City, Nihon Kin, Special Interest
 Group of Game Informatics belonging to the Information Processing Society
 of Japan, Nikkei Newspaper, and Softopia Japan.

[Precondition for joining]
These statements are the pre-announced version. The official announcement
 will be presented in few weeks from now.

Requirements:
1) You have a computer go program made by yourself.
2) If you are unable to attend the tournament, a representative is permitted
 in your place.
3) You (or your representative) have to bring your own computer and operate
 it yourself.

Championship rule:
1) Japanese Go rule is adopted.
2) 6 and half komi is needed.
3) The time allotted per game is 40 minutes..
4) Your program is needed to apply modified SGMP (Standard Go Modem Protocol)
 by RS-232C.
5) Modified Swiss is adopted to decide pairing.

Championship Fee: Free

Prize
Champion: 300,000 JPN: others and extra prizes are planed.

Offering Date: Championship Game: 2nd and 3rd August 2003
Place: Softopia Hall, Softopia Japan, Ogaki City, Gifu Prefecture, Japan
Transportation: From Ogaki Station to Softopia By Taxicab or Bus takes 15min.
>From Nagoya Station to Ogaki By JR Train takes 40min.
>From Tokyo to Nagoya By Shinkansen takes 2hours.
>From Gifu-Hashima to Softopia By taxicab takes 20min.
>From Osaka to Gifu-Hashima By Shinkansen from Shin-Osaka takes 1 hour.
