computer-go: Reminder Gifu Challenge 2003 World Computer Go Championship



Dear computer Go programmers,

This is a reminder that Gifu Challenge 2003 World Computer Go Championship
 will take place in Japan in 2nd and 3rd August 2003.

The application deadline is June 15th.

Gifu Challenge 2003 World Computer Go Championship

[Terms of participation]
Following terms may be subjected to changes upon official release.

Requirements:
1) A computer go program written by yourself.
2) Deputy may(must) be present in case of the programmer 's absence.
3) No computer hardware will be supplied. You must bring your own computer.

Rules of the Championship:
1) All games will be played in Japanese rule.
2) The handicap(komi) will be 6.5 points.
3) Time limit for each player is 40 minutes. There will be no
 byo-yomi(overtime).
4) Your program must play the game according to the modified SGMP
 (Standard Go Modem Protocol) using RS-232C interface.
5) Games pairing and placing will be decided by a modified Swiss System.

Participation Fee: No fee will be charged.

Prizes of the Championship:
1st Place 300,000 Yen 
2nd Place 200,000 Yen 
3rd Place 150,000 Yen 
4th Place  80,000 Yen 
5th Place  50,000 Yen 
6th Place  30,000 Yen
