Couple days ago one of my co-worker mentioned to me that frequency counters are used to identify certain pattern in a serial communication. It struck me that this technique can also be used to identify patterns in computer Go. If one codes each pattern as a stream of binary numbers and feed the sequence to a frequency counter. 3 Gbps frenquency counters are available commercially. I think a 40 Gbps counter is probably available too. Probably even higher frequency. In the last decade tremendous amount of money was poured into the telecommunication sector. So it's no surprise that the technology in this sector is more advanced than any other sectors, including the computer sector.
