Given my second definition of "finished game", then there
can't be any
more territory to secure.  Calculating how much secured territory you
have then got (given the status of all groups) looks
possible, but I am
not aware of any software which does it perfectly.  The
closest I have
seen is Yoshikawa's ScoreEst function, implemented on KGS.
If I understand correctly your second definition, it means that all
teire have been played, but not all freely playable dame. If so, I
agree with Robert Jasiek's statement about low complexity of computing
the score (given the status of all groups). There is no need to
_estimate_ the score, and the normal scoring method on KGS (same as the
CGoban2 scoring tool) is smart enough to count the territory exactly.
Could you please give an example where the final score is wrongly
computed with CGoban2? Seki with eyes, hane-seki, and the 7x8 example
you gave are all correctly scored AFAIK.
The 7x8 example I gave (or something slightly more complicated but with the same properties) was scored wrongly at the end of a game on KGS, using its official scoring mechanism. Yoshikawa's "ScoreEst" function got it right. I'm sorry, I don't recall the game in which this happened.
