I agree that  it's silly to extend GMP.  You must  not have noticed my
sarcasm, I  said it exactly  for that reason.   The point is  that GMP
can't be considered a serious  candidate for automated playing [...]




But this is more or less what the Gifu challenge did and required 
participants to use, a modified GMP. All the top programs were there. 
Did they all comply to the requirement?
