RE: [computer-go] GTP and Tourney in SmartGo 1.4
I am not criticizing the protocol. I just want to stress the point that in order to make people use it is has to be *easy* to do so. It is an entirely practical thing. The specification or ver 2(draft) is kind of nice and cute as a specification. But in order to make it useful there should be examples such as what a correct input and output could be, and also perhaps short (that is not a complete implementation) programming examples for different languages and os's. I like GTP. When I first saw I thought that it was a great idea. But every time I looked at I refrained from doing it because I could not understand how to do it. I am afraid that I am not the only one hobby programmer who so far has turned away from the protocol because of the same reasons.
Best wishes.
