Can't you just start a KGS server (or IGS or whatever), on a LAN and have
all the clients connect to it and start a game with their assigned
opponent?  You then have accountability for anyone who screwed up the
protocol (assuming it wasn't the server)and the added bonus of all games
being recorded in a central place.
