The reason why I wrote this is that cgoban1 has a robust implementation 
of GMP and support for NNGS/IGS.

It is not about my needs. My program has an implementation of GMP and it 
works just fine with cgoban1. Moreover, even if I had to implement 
another protocol I would not worry about it because it would be much 
easier to program than any of the things needed for actually making the 
program play a strong game...
