Your system is nothing short of a supercomputer on its own. I can see that you would need the backing of a big corporation. Many of us are glad that computer Go has not matured to the stage that it's dominated by organized academics. It will happen soon or later.

Go-programming knowledge is definitely vital at least at this stage. Eventually the optimum approach will become obvious and standard.  A Go program is intensive on operations on shared memories. A FPGA based system needs to address this issue.
