Well, in a way yes. I am somewhat aware of the CGT, and it certainly
inspired my thinking. But as far as I know, the strictly formalized
theory only applies to the late endgame, and I was proposing a more
general approach earlier in the game - well knowing that there are
complications and complexities...

Anyway, I mentioned this just as one counter-example to the strict
full-board global search that some chess-programmers seem to believe is
the only way to go.
