As for 2005, we are interested in having a tournament, but are still in the exploratory phases. ...but it sounds like that might be more along the lines of an exhibition match or an experiment in entering programs in a human tournament rather than a real computer go tournament.
From my reading, it looks like the Cotsen is not sure exactly what they might prefer and is open to suggestions.
you bet. that's why i'm here.

Because SlugGo runs on a cluster and the cluster is too bulky to travel I have considered hosting an event, but I have decided against it because it seemed like way too much trouble and expense for me ... time and trouble better put into improving SlugGo.
that may be best for now.

But perhaps with 3 groups splitting the effort ( Cotsen, IGF, and HSRF ) we can make a nice event of it without too much expense or administrative leg work for any one of us. I do not have the time to organize something like this but I would like for it to happen.
eric is always is very busy and he (actually, april) just had his first kid, so he is probably going to be very busy. if he blesses any part of what i will propose, he will probably delegate all work to me (i suggested it, no good deed etc.). and provide some number of $ or not. i would end up interfacing with sensei, the td, and the aga rep. i think chuck robbins is the td, and have posted to him.

If there is interest I'd suggest that Bob and Ray and I take the discussion off-line until we have some clearer ideas about what we would like to do.
i was planning to summarize the posts here, so i could let a sanity check before posting to eric. maybe it would be better to wait a few days?

thanks
