I would get no value in watching a game live, but I was assuming
that the server would be able to store the played games and the
records would be available for download, and thus shared
commentary.

I see a great deal of value in saving the game records, at least
for some minimal time like a week or a month, and having them
be public. Given that some people may sometimes not like that,
I would also understand if public access was an option set by
both programs in advance.
