RE: [computer-go] Changing the subject

First off I would to say I appreciate this 'show of hands'. Only a few
computer-Go apps gets much attention and as we have all seen there is a
wealth of active development in the computer-Go world.

I too, am developing a computer-Go app. I call it Gozilla. (To avoid
litigation from Mr. Brown however its 'official' name will be something far
less interesting.)

To briefly mention the approach, I am trying to design my program to 'learn'
the same way a human learns the game of Go. First you teach it the concept
of atari and then let it discover things like ladders and snapbacks. Teach
it the concept of a moyo and then let it learn of invasions and reductions.

Like many others, as soon as it is strong enough to play consistently- for
better or for worse -I plan on doing a formal write up and hosting it on
KGS.

Cheers,
-Chris Smith
