[computer-go] KGS Test Computer Go Tournament
Yesterday we held a test Computer Go Tournament on KGS. GoGNU (GNU Go)
was the undefeated winner. The results are given at
http://www.intelligentgo.org/en/computer-go/events/kgs/0/index.html
and at
http://kgs.kiseido.com/en_US/tournInfo.jsp?id=75
I would like to congratulate GoGNU on its win; to thank all the
participants; and to thank William Shubert for providing the automated
tournament system that made this possible.
Nine programs registered, but unfortunately only five of these were able
to complete the event. While two of the four who did not finish were
prevented by unavoidable network failures, two were prevented by things
which their operators might have fixed, and will in future know how to
fix. The KGS automated tournament system itself worked perfectly.
I therefore regard this event as a success. I look forward to
organising more such events (but generally with full-sized boards) in
future. There are several issues which need to be discussed, and I
shall soon be making more mailings to this list, to find what people's
views are.
Again, thanks to all who took part.
Nick
